V/Line buses depart from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne to Phillip Island
frequently each day. The hostel is located 10 metres from the bus stop at
Newhaven Service Station.
Phillip Island is a 90 minute drive from Melbourne. Take the Monash Hwy (M1) to
Cranbourne exit, then South Gippsland Hwy (M420) to Bass Hwy (A420). Follow to
San Remo. The hostel is just across the bridge onto Phillip Island in The Big
Wave complex on the left.
Phillip Island YHA provides affordable group accommodation for both small and large groups. The hostel includes great facilities: 4 - 12 multi-share accommodation, room card keys for security, internet and email access, private group area, 2 x fully appointed self catering kitchens, BBQ, TV lounges with 50” plasmas and Games area.

On-site facilities: Surf boards, bikes, body boards, beach games for hire, conference facilities, bus parking and an amazing roof top balcony with 360 degree ocean views.
Things to do: Groups have plenty to keep them occupied on Phillip Island including the famous Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Centre, Maru Wildlife Park, Go Carting, Wildlife Coast Tours, Feed the Pelicans & see the Giant Stingrays and visit Nobbies Centre famous for showcasing the Australian fur seals.

It is worthwhile to spend at least half a day to 1 day on Phillip Island. If you wish to see more, think about renting a car to travel around the island, since the attractions are all spread out. Notable activities for seeing nature are the 2 hours Seal cruise (office in Cowe) and the Penguins Parade (I did the Ultimate Adventure) that brings you to a quiet beach and watch the little penguins.

and passenger ferry service, connecting the Great Ocean Road to the Mornington
Peninsula. Easy drive on/drive off
facilities, onboard café, free wi-fi, comfortable lounges and plenty of deck
space make this 40 minute crossing and must do. Dolphins, whales in
winter and dramatic coastline are some of the sights you will see on this great
alternative to the 2 1/2 hour drive around the Bay.
