ATEC SQ Branch Christmas Party @ Brisbane City YHA

Brisbane City YHA hosted the ATEC South Queensland Branch Christmas Party, overlooking the pool and city skyline on Wednesday night.

The event was attended by thirty industry representatives including; Gary O’Riordan (National ATEC Deputy MD), Bernie Schulz & Don Jolly (ATEC) and representatives from Tourism Queensland, Brisbane Marketing, University of Queensland, Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE, Sofitel, Accor and many local tourism operators.

Awards for Excellence were presented to David James (Tangalooma Island Resort) and Hisatake Kamori (Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary) for their service to the industry and in particular their swift and proactive response to the January floods.

After the speeches, the guests were treated to a special performance from Craig and Keith from Tangalooma Island Resort who performed covers from Bon Jovi, AC/DC, John Mellencamp and even a version of Jailhouse Rock which ‘Taka’ from Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary took a particular liking to on the dance floor.

The evening was full of great praise for the Brisbane City YHA property for its clean and modern facilities and the spectacular view from the rooftop swimming pool overlooking the Brisbane skyline and river.

Brisbane City YHA has won the Best Backpacker Accommodation award at the Queensland Tourism Awards for 2011 and 2010 and won the Best New Tourism Development at the awards in 2009.
