"One of, if not, the best hostels I have stayed in. The kitchen was clean and didn't smell, the communal areas well lit and friendly - I love the hammocks - reading room, TV room, internet room were great. And comfy beds too!"

"I have stayed here several times over the last ten years, the staff is always helpfull, and in general this really is a great place to hang out , but there is still far too little storage space in the kitchen for food -esp fridge space. Also noticed the kitchen not as clean as before, although staff tries to keep it tidy. outside tables and kitchen need a really really good scrubbing."

"Great location and as like most YHA hostels it was a great experience staying here. I have selected good for the cleanliness due to the roommates we had for the first night. Not only were they 16 year old (my friend and I are in our twenties) they were very messy and left a lot of rubbish lying around. We would have preferred the 9 bed dorm we originally booked so we could meet people our own age."

"The staff were efficient and polite, the pool is nice and the location good. The problem is the noise, especially after 11pm at night. Several drunks come in up to 3am making noise saying goodnight and slamming doors. The rooms are very dark, to get light you lose privacy by opening the curtains."

"overall it is a great hostel, and though the price is a bit high, its like that all over hostels in byron bay so theres not much you can do about it. the facilities are good, although an oven in the kitchen would be better, and the kitchenware (such as frying pans) aren't in good condition. the rooms are a bit small, but not very hot even though there is no air conditioning."

"nice place, five minute walk to town. kitchen was good but not enough fridge space. generally noisy, bring your earplugs. ceiling fans help keep the rooms cool."

"swipe key card is a huge bonus, and the generous lockers inside the rooms are great. location is good, 10 minute walk to centre of action but that also means you are away from the noise. the only minus is ... people throwing up in the bathroom after a party that was going on prior to 11pm curfew. one last bathroom clean after curfew would be divine!"
