"this is quite a interesting hostel. Staff was friendly and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. room was very small but all have aircon which is great. however there were heaps off fruit picking people there which made the hostel quite noisy with people chatting all night. the kitchen is very hot and needs a bit of a make over. you can walk downtown but it is quite a walk all the way to the wharf."

"Enjoyable stay in Cooktown with great weather. The room (Twin/Bathroom) I had was great and well appointed. Hostel court yard, pool and leafy surrounds create a relaxing and cool oasis during the heat of the day. Some walking is required to get to attractions at the northern end of cooktown (Lighthouse), although the supermarket is close by to the Hostel."

"Scott was welcoming and the hostel is value for money but I do not think this hostel really meets the usual YHA standard and I would prefer a quality campground. It should be cool in summer as all rooms are very closed in and it has a shady courtyard"

"I have a real affection for Pam's Place. This was my 4th stay there. I enjoy Scott and Roy and the other staff. Cooktown is my favorite way place to end a long trip around Australia. Feels like home!"

"I stayed during Cooktown discovery festival.They gave me a ride to Marketplace.They are really kindly.And they clean community kitchen twice a day.But many people use that kitchen,so it's difficult to keep it clean.I enjoyed stying at this hostel.Unfortunately, I was orderd I didn't lock my room during my stay by my roommate.It irritared me,but it's not their fault."

"We would like to thank Scott and his team at Cooktown YHA. We had the best time. They were so helpful, the hostel is a paradise in the middle of an oasis. To be able to sit around the salt water pool and relax with a drink and watch the sun set I just couldn't believe what such a beautiful location. I would recommend this place for anyone who loves to relax in a place that is out of the way."

"A very friendly place to stay & the staff unbelievably helpful, Cannot understand the last comment made by Jennifer, it is a 4 minute walk to shopping center & 6 minutes to center of town. I found the hostel & kitchen to be very clean & will definately return. Thank you Ady & Scott for looking after me so well."

"I wanted to spend some days in Cooktown and Pams Place seems to be a good place for this. The motel is really far from city centre (30mn walking to reach the Esplanade), I've never seen a kitchen as dirty as this one, and it's not the "cleaning" done in the morning which can improve this. I had to ask for clean sheets and had to show the dirt to the receptionist 'cause he didn't want to believe me"
