"Six of us stayed there and we are all 70. I had stayed before but the others hadn't and were surprised at the cleanliness of the place. There was no trouble by the young ones and they were so well behaved and quiet. The lady who ran the place was very helpful to us. We would certainly stay there again. We ate at Hannans Hotel in Hannan St just around the corner, excellent meals and so cheap."

"The hostel has a scary and restless atmosphere. As a woman I felt intimidated by the mine-workers. The room was really cold and the noise made by other guests all through the night made it impossible to sleep -even with earplugs."

"There are quite a few long time residents who welcome travellers into the hostel with their friendliness and you soon get to enjoy their camaradarie."

"Although I did not go there to work in the mines, it was worth visiting Kalgoorlie. If you don't have a car it's not really handy cause the city is spread out but still a great experience to see a mining town. The super pit is just amazing, so impressive! Almost only workers in the hostel, but friendly people and nice atmsphere."

"Lots of long termers staying there, being a mining town. So some rooms not very clean. Mainly a result of those in the room. Any place with long termers is cliquey."

"I arrived late in the evening but only about 10pm, there was no one about to let us in and no sign of the owner. After a bit she showed up. It turned out you had to pay a deposit for dishes which was ok but the kitchen was pretty small. It is def a working hostel with hardly any women and the town aint that safe to go out in at night. Also the owner was pretty unfriendly."

"Not really a hostel for travellers. Its mostly rented out to miners who are living there permanently. I still enjoyed my stay though."

"not really a typical YHA, many people seemed long-term residents, loud in lounge area near rooms; at reception, no towels offered (I expected to find them in the room), in kitchen no plates, cups or cutlery available (wasn't informed about this at reception either, had to find out in the morning that you can rent it from them for a $10 deposit, but there was noone at reception in the morning..."

"The hostel is really close to town, and the hostel itself has large common areas and kitchen, and a swimming pool and BBQ. The atmosphere in the room was nice (ventilated, nice mattress). However, the room I was staying in was quite messy and you have to bring crockery/cutlery-there is not one piece. I felt people were also living there and it was difficult to park my car that I had hired."

"There was a woman on the first night screaming profanities for quite some time, this continued until the next day. Lads were shouting loudly for late into the night. One lad in the unpermitted area talking on the phone at 0430hrs. This was outside the room. Teatowels were dirty and wet."

"Not quite a hostel for tourist as it is mainly fill up with young local workers. The kitchen is messy and you have to give $10 deposit for plate and cutlery. Nice swimming pool though."
