Planning a working holiday in Australia? Then, look no further!
There are plenty of backpackers’ jobs in Australia. These include:
- construction/labouring jobs
- landscape gardening
- retail/shop work
- bar/restaurant/cafe/hospitality work
- nursing
- office/clerical work
- nanny/cleaning services
- seasonal jobs, such as fruit picking, farm jobs or grapevine pruning/harvesting.
Jobs can be for one day, one week, 1-6 months or can (and have) turned into permanent employment.
Jobs are often passed from one backpacker to another.
If you take on a seasonal job in a regional location for a minimum of three months, you can apply to extend your working holiday visa from one to two years.
Basic employer expectations are friendliness, good presentation and reliability.
YHA has over 100 hostels around Australia. Several of our hostels host long-term workers and offer weekly rates. Some even go so far as to act as local recruitment agencies, matching jobs with local employers to their backpacker guests who are seeking work.
