YHA’s priority is to offer guests at the hostel a safe stay – you can read more here. Thredbo YHA will be managed to ensure all social distancing and hygiene requirements are met. Reduced occupancy in some room types and a maximum number of people in communal areas may apply. We encourage guests to bring pre-prepared meals, that only require heating up (extra microwaves will be available), to allow all guests access to the kitchen at peak times.
The drop off area is located at the front of the building (laundry/studio). Vehicle access is from Buckwong Place, turn left just past Schulfwinkle and in front of Kiama Lodge. This area is strictly drop off only, a 5 minute limit will be placed on all cars using the access and a $300 fine will be imposed if cars exceed the limit. You will be required to drive in and out of the drop off zone front first, there will be no backing out of this area. There is only space for two cars at one time, so cars must wait until the area is vacant before proceeding along the road and bridge. Please note snow chains may be required to access the driveway.
Finally, we recommend you use the overnight parking at the northern end of the village (Thredbo Leisure Centre/Friday Flat), and take advantage of the free shuttle bus service throughout Thredbo.
Please do not drop off or park near either Kiama or Schlufwinkle Lodges, the electricity sub station or on the steep part of Buckwong Place. The people in these lodges will take action against unauthorised cars.
Check in is between 3pm-7pm, please do not arrive before this time. If you will be arriving after 7pm, or not arriving at all, please contact reception (02 6457 6376).
Check out is from 7am - 10am on the day of departure. Fees apply for not complying to this check out time. For those skiing a half day, there are lockers available for luggage storage (you will need a padlock).
Reception is open from 7am-10am and 3pm-7pm, outside of these hours the hostel is locked for your safety and security. You will be provided with a door code at check in for after-hour access to the lodge during your stay.
If you are unable to use your booking, you can transfer it to a friend who is of the same sex for a $10 transfer fee, payable upon arrival. If you are transferring a booking you must give 48hrs notice (in writing). If a booking is cancelled and re-made for a different date a cancellation fee will apply, not a transfer fee.
