    Located in the heart of the Northern Territory’s tropical capital, Darwin YHA – Melaleuca on Mitchell, has all the facilities to keep you cool in the heat. Grab a drink at the bar, laze by one of two pools or chill out under the waterfall spa.

    Things to do in Darwin

    Darwin YHA is a great base for exploring the spectacular World Heritage Kakadu National Park, the magnificent waterfalls at Litchfield National Park, the Tiwi Islands and the Arnhem Land Aboriginal Reserve. Darwin enjoys a warm tropical climate all year. The dry season (May to November) is the cooler time of the year in the 'Top End' and allows for excellent outdoor activities like the Mindil Beach Markets.

    5. East Point Reserve and Lake Alexander; a large reserve with evidence of Darwin’s wartime history as well as a beautiful lake and the best views in town.
    6. George Brown Botanical Gardens, an oasis in Darwin and a great place to relax and discover the plants from tropical climate.
    7. Litchfield National Park, only 1.5 hours from Darwin and well worth the visit: stunning rainforest, waterfalls, termite mounds, historic ruins... (tours also bookable from reception)
    8. Berry Springs Nature Park, only 45 minutes from Darwin. Perfect area for swimming, walking, picnics, wildlife spotting...
