SkyBus to city $18 (24 hours). Once you arrive in the CBD, Skybus offer a FREE city-hostel transfer daily for backpackers (check with driver). Tickets are available from the Hotel Transfer Service Booth at Southern Cross Station.
Avalon Airport - 61km
Bus service between Avalon to Southern Cross Station is $20 adults, $9.50 children (4-14yrs).
Limited parking available for $7/day. Contact Melbourne Metro YHA directly for parking as Bookings are essential. 2.1 metre vehicle height limit. The hostels Melways reference is 2B A10.
TRAM FROM CITY
From Elizabeth St, catch Tram No. 57, to stop 9 (Cnr Howard & Victoria St), turn right and walk up Howard St. Cross over Queensberry St and the backpacker hostel entrance is 50 metres on your right.

The Skybus service to and from the airport is great value for money; especially being dropped off and picked up from the YHA.

Extremely convenient location, close to QVM and a lot of restaurants, Korean, Italian, Malay, Chinese, you name it. 30 minutes walk to Flinders Street and if weather's bad, free Melbourne tram is close. Even locals admire our location.

I recommend to do the day trip on the GOR. Indeed, if you do not have a lot a time in VIC this is such a bargain and Wildlife Tour guides are really friendly!
