Centrally located, the YHA is the perfect base to explore Australia's capital and its many free attractions. Visit the National Museum of Australia, Australian War Memorial, Parliament House, and Questacon. Walk or picnic beside Lake Burley Griffin, and enjoy views from Telstra Tower or Mount Ainslie. Canberra plays host to plenty of festivals during the year, including Floriade, Multicultural Festival, Balloon Fiesta, and International Film Festival. Read about the hostel's history.
Home to four tertiary institutions, Canberra has a lively entertainment scene. The Australian National University hosts a variety of bands during the year, while nearby Garema Place and Northborne Avenue are home to a number of pubs, multi-level clubs and cocktail bars.
The YHA hostel in Canberra is 250m from the nearest food store
Besides a couple of good Museums and exhibitions there isn't much to do in Canberra (especially the "Centre" is very dissapointing in fact that it is the capital). If you don't mind Walking a bit everything is in reach by foot from the YHA. I can recommend visiting the Parliament House on sitting days (and take the free guided tour) and as well the Old Parliament House(Museum of Democracy).
Stay at Canberra City YHA and explore the attractions of Australia's capital city by bike or bus. Don't miss Parliament House, the War Memorial, the National Museum of Australia and so much more!
