Hobart is Australia's second oldest city, with a wealth of scenery.
From the historic homes of Battery Point to the panoramic view from the top of Mount Wellington (1270m) there is plenty on offer.
Salamanca Market, the Botanical Gardens, Derwent River Cruises, Cadbury Chocolate Factory and Cascade Brewery, Australia's oldest, are all popular with backpackers.

Nightlife
Visit Syrup Nightclub at Salamanca Place, with two storeys of music - one retro and the other techno. Try your luck at Wrest Point Casino. Hobart has an abundance of night-life. Most activities occur later in the week. Check local newspapers for a guide to backpackers entertainment.
