    Murwillumbah YHA is a great short and peaceful break from Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. The hostel has free Wi-Fi hotspot, premium Wi-Fi Plus, stunning views of World Heritage listed Mt Warning and is located right on the shores of the Tweed River.  The house was originally a ferry captain's home (1922-1932) featuring riverside gardens, the staff and guests have created a quirky décor and a homely atmosphere. Being a small hostel, guests can meet and socialise easily. It’s famous for free ice cream provided at 9pm most nights, gathering guests together. 

    This cosy backpacker accommodation makes a great base to explore Mount Warning, National Parks, rainforest, and waterfalls. Experience a typical Aussie community, see the murals and graffiti wall, swim or kayak the peaceful Tweed River.

    Free bike hire with every 2-night stay, and free kayak hire with every 3-night stay. 

    The walking track at Mt Warning is now open again to the public: Book our specials for hostel package including transport out to the start of the walk.

    • Good for one or two nights. Good place to check out the countryside. You can rent mountainbikes for free, what was very nice. You get 200 mb wifi for free.

    Things to do in Murwillumbah

    Enjoy the rainforest and spectacular views from the top of Mt Warning, view one of the world's largest volcanic craters. Climb Mt Warning to see the first sunlight in Australia. Cycle through the peaceful Tweed River Valley and sugar cane country. Paddle a kayak in a nearby tranquil creek viewing wild ducks and native animals (free use with every 3-night stay). Swim at the hostel in the Tweed River without concern of stingers, rips or waves. Visit the Margaret Olley Art Centre, Murwillumbah's refurbished museum and the World Heritage Rainforest Centre. Try unusual delights at Tropical Fruit World or go bushwalking in nearby National Parks. Join a river cruise, stand up paddle board or sightseeing tour.
