Things to do in Stradbroke Island YHA

Located east of Brisbane, Stradbroke Island is a natural treasure with kilometres of white sandy beaches, picturesque headlands, inland lakes and an abundance of wildlife. Enjoy 4WD tours, sand boarding, sea kayaking or the spectacular North Gorge Headlands walk where you can see whales (June-October), manta rays (November-April), dolphins and turtles. The onsite SSI dive centre caters for divers and snorkellers with daily charters and dive courses available.
Local bands on Saturday nights at Stradbroke Island hotel. Bonfires and BBQs at and around hostel.

Join one of the boat trips or snorkel the South Gorge. Prices from $25 to hire gear or $60 per person to join a boat trip.

FREE things to do in Point Lookout

  1. Visit the Gorge Walk at the top of Point Lookout for spectacular views and wildlife. Relax or walk along the islands beautiful beaches.
  2. Go surfing and take advantage of the free boogie boards or hire our surfboards to enjoy the waves.
  3. Sunset on Adder Rock - end your day watching the sunset just a 2 minutes from the hostel.
  4. Bush walking - every Wednesday the local bushwalkers meet at 8-8:30am to complete a walk on the island. (Only available through the cooler months).
  5. Meander through the variety of market stalls showcasing local produce from the island and surrounding area. Runs alternate Sundays.
  • Amity Point is a lovely location if you have a car - the Island bus does go there. Dolphins at the jetty- I was lucky enough to see a massive school of Sea Mullet being surrounded and eaten by the dolphins....amazing experience.
