  • It’s important to kick the ‘bucket list ticking’ off with a bang and Scenic World is sure to provide the goods! Get 360° views and 720 metres to experience Katoomba Falls, The Three Sisters and Jamison Valley. Nothing like a little perspective whilst you’re up in the air, you’ll feel absolutely tiny compared to Katoomba’s great immensity. HINT: Blue Mountains YHA are currently offering a Scenic World Special (amongst a number of amazing deals) including a Scenic World package, 2 nights’ accommodation and 2 breakfasts.
  • A Blue Mountains Mystery Tour is an absolute must for anyone wanting to see haunted Katoomba by night. The perfect combination of exhilarating scenic views and sites, coupled with historical legends, and ghost stories. Not to mention, YHA members get $5 off all Mystery Tours
  • And last but not least, take a self-guided bush walk (with your troops of course) and discover the beauty of the Blue Mountains for yourself. However, be sure to register at YHA reception for a map and instructions, and pick up your emergency locator beacon from the police station (next-door to the hostel).

  • One suburb away in Leura, the Candy Store is enough of a reason in itself to visit the Blue Mountains. They’ve got every type of lolly you could possibly imagine, including movie-sized jumbo boxes, hard rock candy, fudge, push pops and specialty lollies from America and England.
  • Whilst exploring Leura for the day, take some time to have a browse around the main street and visit the various little boutique stores, all with a range of quirky, vintage pieces, antiques and handcrafted jewellery.
  • If bushwalking just isn’t your thing, it’s absolutely worth taking a look at the Everglades House and Gardens. This beautifully crafted spot feels nothing short of magical. Ideal for wandering, picnicking and enjoying a Devonshire tea (hell yeah, get me a scone)!

First name, hungry. Last name, always.

  • Breakfast (because ain’t nobody got time for brunch on a weekend getaway): Lily’s Pad Café in Leura makes all their own jams, cakes, chutneys and obviously it’s a dreamboat for all your breaky needs. The spot is best known for its house-made bread, so grab an egg and bacon roll (or a freshly baked slice of fig and walnut bread) before heading out for a day of adventure.

  • Lunch8Things Eatery in Katoomba is just as quirky as its name suggests, pulling all the stops with a menu full of African and Mediterranean cuisine. Get the perfect ‘grab and go’ style lunch of tofu fries, lamb tacos, or an NYC cheeseburger, or perhaps, take this opportunity to enjoy one of the heartier street food options available.

  • Dinner: Who doesn’t love their local, cosy, hangout spot? Well, that’s the exact vibe in Station Bar Katoomba - with pizza described as “to die for”, live music (most nights) and a huge range of cocktails, beer and wine - this place is definitely worth stopping by! Not to mention ranked no.3 for Australia's Best Pizza Place
