Lifting the curtain on YHA's exciting glow ups

As part of a major revitalisation project that began in 2023, YHA has been hard at work renovating and upgrading rooms and amenities at some of its key city locations across Australia. With YHA Sydney Central, YHA Sydney Harbour and YHA Brisbane City all receiving major transformations this year aimed at elevating the guest experience, and with more to come in 2025, this is the start of an exciting new chapter for YHA and its members. Newly refurbished private rooms

Private rooms at all three properties have been completely refurbished giving guests even more comfort, with premium joinery and bed frames (featuring personal charging and bedside lights), high-quality mattresses, refreshed interior décor, refurbished bathrooms and Smeg tea and coffee station as standard.

New co-living rooms

2024 has brought in these improvements to re-imagine the traditional YHA guest experience with fully renovated co-living rooms at all three of these major city properties. Refurbishments include brand new privacy bunks featuring high-quality mattresses, in-bunk personal charging and light for all guests, and privacy curtains to ensure a good, private night’s rest. These rooms also feature refreshed interior decor and are equipped with generously sized lockers complete with in-built charging facilities to ensure guest belongings are able to be securely stored.

Ensuite and communal bathrooms have undergone complete renovation at these two major inner-city properties – fully stripped and reconfigured with a sleek, modern and clean aesthetic, high-quality fittings and fixtures and GHD hairdryers in private rooms and available at reception for co-living guests. 

Refreshed and refurbished common areas

Guests can look forward to spending time and socialising in comfortable, brand new feeling spaces across all three properties. Common areas and hallways have been refreshed, receiving ew paint, flooring, seating and interior design touches.

Bold new painted wayfinding has also been added to hallways helping guests locate each YHA's great facilities with ease.

New harbour-view rooftop bar

The rooftop bar serves a diverse range of on-tap beers, wine, spirits and cocktails. 

YHA Sydney Harbour's iconic rooftop pop up bar was a huge hit with guests last summer and has now had a massive glow up becoming a full service bar, allowing guests to enjoy harbour-view food and drinks in one of the most stunning locations in the entire YHA network. This is just the latest in a slew of upgrades at YHA Sydney Harbour and across the network to elevate YHA's food and beverage offerings to a best-in-class standard.
