Introducing the new YHA

For over 80 years, YHA has provided travellers with accessible, affordable, safe and sustainable places to explore Australia and connect with each other. We always have been and always will be the launchpad for a community of curious and socially conscious travellers on their journeys of exploration, learning and self-discovery.

This ‘always exploring’ mindset is not just something we encourage in our travellers, it’s also how we do business. During these last couple of challenging years, we have taken the opportunity to explore what the future of YHA looks like, and how we can innovate and evolve our offerings to meet the changing needs of our travellers. We want to better accommodate different styles of travel and help reconnect people to destinations and each other in a post-pandemic world.

As a result, we’ve refreshed our look and have refocused on our mission of creating community in diverse spaces and connecting travellers with authentic local experiences in a sustainable way. We’re still the welcoming, inclusive accommodation provider that travellers have loved and trusted for decades – our values haven’t changed, and our purpose remains at the heart of the brand: to create a more open and accommodating world.

We’re debuting an updated logo and a new look to better reflect the modern traveller and showcase the authentic connections and experiences that our spaces enable. This refresh introduces a contemporary new logo (with a nod to the hut and tree of logos past), vibrant colour palette and a focus on storytelling through our brand imagery - all working to help better highlight more of our story and reflect our diversity.

The other half of this evolution is the reimagining of our properties. This means refurbishing our accommodation and collaborating on projects like Tech Central - a best-in-class sustainability co-working and co-living property. We’re also adding Y-Hive co-working spaces and a range of new food and beverage options in our YHAs, as well looking at offering regenerative tourism experiences to our travellers as a way to offset their travel footprint.

These changes mark the start of a journey for YHA that will continue for years to come, intersecting with a new era of travel and a new type of traveller. Sustainable travel has never been more important, and through this evolution process, we want to not only inspire and educate our current guests, but ensure our spaces provide travellers the freedom to explore Australia for the next 80 plus years.
