5 Cheap Study Breaks For Sydney Students

Living and studying in Sydney means you are surrounded by wonderful places you can easily getaway to (on a budget too), lucky you!

Don't waste your weekends and uni breaks away Netflixing in bed, get out and see more of Australia! You don't have to go far, all of these places are in Sydney or just a short bus or car ride away.

1. SYDNEY MUSEUM CRAWL

A cheaper (and healthier) alternative to a pub crawl – Do a museum crawl around the city to learn more about Australian history, art and culture, and get inspired. Museum of Contemporary Art, The Australian National Maritime Museum, The Rocks Discovery Museum, Sydney Observatory and The Mint all have free admission days and free exhibitions, make sure you check out their websites to plan your crawl.

2. BLUE MOUNTAINS

One for the nature lovers and adventure seekers – There's so much to do in Blue Mountains from chasing waterfalls to abseiling down a steep cliff to exploring the historic Jenolan Caves! If you use OPAL card to catch the train there on a Sunday it'd only cost you a sweet $2.50.

3. PITTWATER

Just an hour north of city centre, Pittwater is where you'll find the gorgeous Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, wild wallabies and native birds, and lots of small secluded beaches. Instead of packing like sardines on Bondi Beach, get your crew here for a semi-private beach party!

4. CANBERRA

Australia's capital city has numerous FREE museums and art galleries, cool bars and eateries, and fun student night outs. Take advantage of cheap coach tickets between Sydney and Canberra, it's only a 3-hour nap away!

5. FERRYTHON

For something different, do your own Ferrython on Sydney Harbour! Travel between Circular Quay, Cockatoo Island, Darling Harbour, Watsons Bay, Manly and more to see Sydney from the water. Once again, take advantage of OPAL card's daily/weekly travel caps and cruise around on the cheap.
