HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF YHA AUSTRALIA? As part of your first night’s stay at one of our hostels, you will become a member of YHA Australia at no additional cost.
If you are an Australian resident but won’t be staying at a hostel in Australia, you can become a member for $15 here. You will be sent a membership card in the post (Australia only).
Either way you join…you will be able to access your digital membership card (and download it) by logging into My YHA.
*If you live outside Australia, you will not be eligible to purchase a YHA membership online. If you are not visiting Australia we suggest you buy Hostelling International membership, which is recognised in over 4,000 hostels worldwide, or become a member with your home association.
I WAS A MEMBER BEFORE THE NEW MEMBERSHIP MODEL WAS INTRODUCED,WHAT HAS CHANGED FOR ME? Your current membership is still valid to its expiry date. However, as long as you stay at a YHA in Australia or remain subscribed to email communications, your membership will be automatically renewed at no extra cost to you.
I AM A YHA/HI MEMBER IN MY HOME COUNTRY - WILL I ALSO BECOME A MEMBER OF YHA AUSTRALIA IF I STAY AT A HOSTEL HERE? Yes, you will become a member with YHA Australia as part of your first night's stay. Your membership with your home association however is still valid.
HOW DO I GET THE MEMBER RATE AT YHA AUSTRALIA HOSTELS? We only publish the member rate, so make sure you always book direct with us here or with the hostel to ensure you receive the best guaranteed rate available.
I DIDN'T BOOK DIRECT WITH YHA - DO I STILL BECOME A MEMBER WHEN I CHECK-IN? Firstly, next time you need to stay at one of our hostels be sure to book direct to receive the best guaranteed rate!
Secondly, we want everyone to be part of YHA. So yes, you will become a member when you check-in at your first YHA hostel. It is important you give us your email address so we can communicate with you.
DO HOSTELS ISSUE PHYSICAL MEMBERSHIP CARDS? No, our hostels no longer have the capability to issue physical membership cards. You will be able to access your digital membership card by logging in to My YHA or request a physical card by emailing through the 'Contact Us' form (posted to Australian addresses only).
WILL MY DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP CARD BE ACCEPTED BY DISCOUNT PROVIDERS AND AT OVERSEAS HOSTELS? All our current discount providers have been advised of this change to YHA Australia membership cards. We are following the Hostelling International standard format for our digital card and all associations have been notified.
I'M HAVING TROUBLE LOGGING INTO MY YHA. Our security and systems have been upgraded to a new, more secure, method of managing logins. If you had a login on our website prior to 3rd October 2017 we ask that you Sign Up again.
If you are trying to request a new password but do not receive an email, it may mean we do not have a registered login for you and you will need to create a new one.
I CAN'T SEE MY DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP CARD. We may have a different email address (or no email address) on your member record. Please contact Membership through the 'Contact Us' form and we can get this fixed for you.
WHY DOESN'T MY MEMBERSHIP CARD SHOW UP IN TRAVELLO? Please ensure that you have the most up to date version of the Travello App. First, go to the YHA Australia Group (make sure you are a member), then go to 'Inbox' and 'Cards' on the right side of the screen. Your membership card should show here.
