There are lots of great reasons to come and work and travel in Australia - and now there’s one more! Rebates towards rent, travel and job-related costs available from 1 November 2020 to 31 December 2021 for short-term agricultural work for at least 6 weeks (at least 120 hours) undertaken at least 90 minutes from your Australian address (can be a YHA), in a harvest, regional or remote area. Conditions apply – international travellers find out more.
View the Government fact sheet here.
Not sure where you want to start? Check out the Harvest Trail Map then follow the simple steps below, that YHA have put together, to help make it easy for you:
1. Arrive
Grab a plane ticket, take out insurance, and book a bed to start your Aussie adventure! YHA has lots of places in prime locations along with a social vibe – choose co-living or a private room. You’ll automatically be granted a Special Category Subclass 444 Visa on arrival in Australia, allowing you to stay and work indefinitely. You’ll need to sign up for some paperwork in your first few days, though, and YHA is your ideal ‘home from home’ as it counts as your Australian address for official purposes.
2. Register -> then Find Work
BEFORE you find a job, you need to register with the Australian Government to ensure you are able to apply for the rebate. Be sure to follow the steps A-B-C
3. Getting Around
YHA has all your travel needs sorted – from how to get to your new job, to how to get around and see more of Australia once you’ve got that hard-earned cash & rebate in your pocket!
4. Work & Stay
YHA has some great properties where you can stay while you work.
