Best free spots for views & local experiences
Coolangatta’s coastline is best explored on foot. Follow the beachfront pathway from Kirra through to Greenmount and Rainbow Bay, stopping for a swim or to watch surfers tackle some of the world’s most famous breaks at Snapper Rocks.
Head to Point Danger for sweeping coastal views and whale spotting during migration season, or check out Rainbow Bay Lookout and Kirra Hill Lookout for great views without the crowds.
For something a little different, make the short trip to Burleigh Heads National Park for panoramic views across the Gold Coast, or join a Jellurgal Walkabout to learn more about the local Aboriginal culture and connection to Country.
For more adventure, explore the coastline with Cooly Eco Adventures, go diving around Kirra Reef with Kirra Dive, or take on part of the Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk through the Tweed hinterland. Finish the day with a wander through the beachfront markets on the second Sunday of each month, or catch free live music at one of Coolangatta’s local bars.
