Day 1 – Watarrka (Kings Canyon)

  • Watch the outback scenery fly by on your journey to the heart of the red centre
  • Arrive at the jaw dropping Watarrka (Kings Canyon).  You will think you have landed on another planet
  • Hike the 3km rim walk, and descend upon the canyon floor
  • Marvel at the unique sandstone domes of the Lost City
  • Check out the natural Amphitheatre
  • Feel small compared to the immense North and South Walls
  • Soak up the tranquillity of the Garden of Eden
  • Tuck into a tasty camp oven dinner
  • Bush camp it up in Curtain Springs, swagging under a million stars

Day 2 – Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)

  • Watch the impressive domes emerge on the approach to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)
  • Wander through the beautiful Valley of the Winds
  • Try some local bush tucker
  • Learn about the Dreamtime at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre
  • Follow your guide on the Mala Walk.  Learn about traditional Anangu culture and experience the fascinating millennia-old rock art
  • Tuck into dinner while watching Uluru change colours at sunset, a sight that will take your breath away
  • Refresh with a nice warm shower at Ayres Rock Campground

Day 3 – Uluru (Ayres Rock)

  • Get up super early for the sunrise over Uluru – the sleep deprivation is totally worth it
  • Lace up your walking shoes and tackle the full 10km Uluru base walk
  • Look up at the spectacular Kantju Gorge, where the water cascades down Uluru during the wet season
  • Feel the Aboriginal spirits at the Mutijulu Waterhole
  • Appreciate the cave paintings created over 5,000 years ago
  • Break up the journey back to Alice Springs with a camel ride (extra $)
  • Check into Alice Springs YHA and scrub that iconic red dust off
  • Meet your guide for a drink at The Rock Bar (extra $)

Day 4 - Devils Marbles

  • Cross the Tropic of Capricorn - 80% of the Northern Territory lies north of this point
  • Explore Devil’s Marbles (Karlu Karlu) - a series of granite boulders sculptured by nature or put there by aliens, you decide
  • Finish the day at historic Banka Banka Cattle Station our camp for the night

Day 5 - Mataranka Thermal Pools

  • Call into the Daly Waters Pub, a truly iconic outback experience
  • Soak your troubles away at Mataranka Thermal Pools - a 30 degree natural warm spring, fringed by paperbark trees
  • Journey into Katherine, our camp for the night

Day 6 - Katherine Gorge

  • Explore Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk) your way.  Take a cruise down the ancient sandstone cliffs, take a seasonal paddle along the peaceful water (extra $) or simply recline on the banks
  • Watch the landscape change through the window as we cruise into Darwin
  • Scrub up at Darwin YHA and hit the town with your new crew

Day 7 – Kakadu National Park

  • Make sure your camera is at the ready to capture the copious amounts of wildlife on a Corroboree Billabong cruise
  • Play a game of spot the crocodile and flying fox on the East Alligator river bank, with a tasty picnic lunch
  • Scramble up Ubirr and be rewarded with views over the Nardab floodplain and Arnhemland
  • Survey the ancient rock art
  • Tuck into a traditional Aussie BBQ
  • Camp at the base of the Arnhemland Escarpment at Garnamarr in an exclusive safari camp

Day 8 – Kakadu National Park

  • Avoid the crowds and hike to the top of Twin Falls to enjoy the fantastic view.  While you are there take a dip in crystal clear water
  • Hike over rocks and boulders like a little mountain goat into Jim Jim Falls.  Relax on the ‘beach’ or float in the water while gazing up at the towering sandstone cliffs
  • Settle in at camp near Litchfield National Park

Day 9 – Litchfield National Park

  • Head to Wangi Falls and dive into the natural plunge pool
  • Visit Tolmer Falls and take in the spectacular views over Litchfield
  • Relax at Buley Rockhole and enjoy a tasty picnic lunch
  • Freshen up at Florence falls with another invigorating swim
  • Check out the unique Cathedral and magnetic termite mounds
  • Arrive back at Darwin YHA for your final night of fun and festivities

This super fun adventure can be full on, so you need to be pretty fit – the hikes can be long, sometimes scrambling over rocks.  The weather can also be crazy hot and freezing cold, so a good level of fitness is pretty important

Cancellation and Amendment Fees


Due to the discount offered and the structure of this package - it is non-refundable once confirmed.


Each amendment (not cancellation) to the original booking, after confirmation will incur a fee of $25 per person and per amendment.

Amendments are subject to availability.

Cancellations and Amendments

If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please notify us immediately by email. You can find the email contact details on your booking confirmation. Cancellation and change fees are outlined below:


  • A minimum cancellation fee of $25 per booking will apply to all cancellations. This fee excludes tour operator fees which will vary at the discretion of the supplier/s involved.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of the tour, activity, accommodation, transport item commencing will incur a 100% cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued.
  • No- shows/ failure to check- in for any tour, activity, accommodation, and/or transport item is considered a cancellation and a refund will not be issued.
  • Refunds are not available on unused portions of tour packages.


  • Booking changes and amendments must be made 5 business days prior to the confirmed date of commencement for the tour, activity, accommodation, or transport item.
  • Booking changes and amendments to any booking made within 48 hours of the tour, activity, accommodation, and/or transport item may result in full cancellation and rebooking of each item and will therefore be charged full cancellation fees.
  • Each change/ amendment after confirmation will incur a minimum fee of $25 per person, per change/ amendment. This fee is in addition to any fees imposed by the tour operator which will vary in line with the cancellation and change terms and conditions of the tour operator involved.

 YHA Membership

This YHA Travel and Tours product is not restricted to YHA members and guests. You do not need to be a member or guest of YHA to purchase this product.

  • If there is accommodation included in this YHA Travel and Tours product and you are not already a member of YHA Australia, membership will be included as part as your first night’s stay
  • If you are an Australian resident, your membership is valid for 2 years from the month that you stay at your first YHA hostel in Australia. Your membership will renew automatically, unless you have not stayed in a YHA hostel in the past 24 months and have unsubscribed from all electronic communications.
  • If you are not an Australian resident, your membership is valid for 2 years from the month that you stay at your first YHA hostel in Australia.
