Check into Alice Springs YHA and get a good night’s rest before a busy 10 days
Day 1: Uluru
It is an early morning start today as we make the journey to Uluru. On the way we visit a camel farm and discover about this early form of transport. In the afternoon we embark on and interpretive base walk around Uluru and visit the Cultural Centre. Nothing prepares you for the spectacular sight of the ever changing colours of the Uluru sunset. It is then off to our private campsite to prepare for another busy day tomorrow. (L, D)
Day 2: Kata Tjuta
It is another early morning start today but it is worth it as we take in the incredible Uluru sunrise. We then head off to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) . We embark on a hike through the Valley of the Winds through creek beds, domes and beautiful wilderness. After lunch we travel to Kings Creek Station for out camp for the night. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Watarrka – Kings Canyon
This morning we enter the Watarrka (Kings Canyon) National Park, home of a mighty chasm with sheer red rock faces which soar over 100 metres above lush palm forests. The rim of Kings Canyon is a 6km round trip walk and you will visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City and tranquil Garden of Eden . After Lunch we begin our journey back to Alice Springs. You will be dropped back at the Alice Springs YHA for 2 nights booked into dorm accommodation. (B, L)
Day 4: Alice Springs
Today we have a free day to relax or explore the red centre township of Alice Springs. All activities and meals today are at your own expense. The hostel will be able to assist with ideas on what to do today.
Day 5: Karlu Karlu - Devil’s Marbles
This morning you will be picked up nice and early and then our adventure through the ‘Territory’ to Darwin Begins. Just north of Alice Springs is the Tropic of Capricorn, 80% of the Norther Territory lies north of this point. Further along the track are the Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu) This spectacular collection of gigantic granite boulders magically balanced on top of each other is a remarkable sight. Our day winds to a close just north of Tennant Creek at the historic Banka Banka Cattle Station. (L, D)
Day 6: Mataranka Thermal Pools
No trip to the ‘Territory’ is complete without a trip to the Daly Water Pub we stop off and experience this unique watering hole which is a great spot for a cold beer and a bit of history, It is a ‘fair dinkum outback experience’! Later in the day we can relax and unwind with a soak in the Mataranka Thermal Pools, a lush oasis fringed by paperbark trees. Tonight we camp nearby. (B, L, D)
Day 7: Nitmiluk National Park – Katherine Gorge
It is another early morning start as we make our way to Nitmiluk National Park to experience the magnificent Katherine Gorge . Ancient Sandstone has been carved away by the Katherine River to create a picturesque gorge. You may like to take a boat cruise, or if you are feeling adventurous you can paddle a canoe through the peaceful water (both optional and additional cost). It is then time to picture the changing landscape as we travel into Darwin. You will be dropped off at the YHA for the night. (B, L)
Day 8: Kakadu National Park
After an early morning pick up, our Top End Adventure begins as we head to the Mary River Wetlands for our billabong cruise. This region is home to an abundance of wildlife including the Saltwater Crocodile. We stop off at the South Alligator River which is a picturesque spot for a picnic lunch. It is then off to the Bowali Visitor Centre where you will have a chance to learn about the local Aboriginal culture. We plan for a late afternoon arrival to Ubirr to give us time to experience the ancient Aboriginal Rock Art. It is then a climb to the Nadab lookout for panoramic views over the floodplain and beyond into Arnhem Land. After a big day it is time to head to our private campsite for a hearty dinner and a well-earned rest (L, D)
Day 9: Kakadu National Park
This morning the jewels of Kakadu National Park await. After breakfast we travel off road to the Majestic Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls for a day of adventure and exploration. Travelling into Twin Falls by 4WD track, a boat shuttle and finally a rocky track and boardwalk, we will be rewarded by the beauty of this remote waterfall. We then head to Jim Jim Falls where a hike through monsoon forests and over boulders leads to the spectacular sight of the falls surrounded by 150 metre cliffs. We spend some time soaking up the natural beauty of this amazing locations. This afternoon we say goodbye to Kakadu and Head towards our private campsite near Litchfield National Park. (B, L, D)
Day 10: Litchfield National Park
Today we spend our last day in the top end exploring the waterfalls, spring-fed streams and rugged sandstone escarpments of the beautiful Litchfield National Park. Marvel at the intriguing magnetic and cathedral termite mounds and swim, hike and explore Florence and Wangi Falls. We then head to Buley Rockhole to explore the many rock holes and cascading waterfalls. It is then time to say goodbye as we head back into Darwin where you will be dropped off at the YHA for your final night. (B, L)

Due to the discount offered and the structure of this package - it is non-refundable once confirmed.
Each amendment (not cancellation) to the original booking, after confirmation will incur a fee of A$25 per person and per amendment.
Amendments are subject to availability.
-If you are not already a member of YHA Australia, membership will be included as part as your first night’s stay if your tour includes accommodation.
- If you are an Australian resident, your membership is valid for 2 years from the month that you stay at your first YHA hostel in Australia. Your membership will renew automatically, unless you have not stayed in a YHA hostel in the past 24 months and have unsubscribed from all electronic communications.
- If you are not an Australian resident, your membership is valid for 2 years from the month that you stay at your first YHA hostel in Australia.
Cancellations and Amendments
If you need to cancel or amend your booking after we have confirmed, please notify us immediately by email or fax. On the booking confirmation print-out, you can find the email contact details. If you cancel or amend your booking after we have confirmed or fail to arrive on the nominated day, we will charge you the fees outlined in the specific product conditions.
We strongly advise you purchase adequate travel insurance to safeguard against any losses.
