After departing Alice Springs nice and early, we head to Erldunda for a light breakfast. Eating a freshly packed lunch on the run provides us with more time at the World Heritage listed National Park. Our first destination is Kata Tjuta. Embrace the spectacular domes of Kata Tjuta on our first walk of the day into Walpa Gorge.
Our next stop is the Aboriginal Cultural Centre which was built with 90,000 mud bricks. We learn about the local culture and understand how sacred the area is to the Anangu people. It is then off to the base of Uluru where we are escorted on the Mala Walk. It is a beautiful walk taking in the rock art and the sheer vertical walls of Uluru. We then head around to the other side of the rock where we start our second guided walk into Mutitjulu Waterhole. The waterhole provides a beautiful backdrop to hear the stories from the local Anangu people about this area.
It is hard to believe after all of this the best is still to come. The highlight of the day is the breathtaking Uluru Sunset complimented with a glass of sparkling wine and a delicious Aussie BBQ. Unfortunately once the sun has set it is time to hit the road and journey back to Alice Springs
