Day 1: Flinders Ranges

  • Travel through the vineyards of the beautiful Clare Valley wine region
  • Enter the rugged outback through the historic town of Melrose.  Gateway to the Flinders Ranges
  • Take a stroll through Alligator Gorge.  For the lucky, see it bursting with wildflowers
  • Settle into your swag under the stars in the heart of the Flinders Ranges

 Day 2: Coober Pedy

  • Keep your eyes out the window to witness the incredible changing landscape of the outback.  You will think you are on Mars or the Moon
  • Spot wildlife like kangaroos emus and eagles
  • Learn the history of the unique underground town of Coober Pedy
  • Tour through an underground Opal Mine and Museum
  • Meet rescued kangaroos and baby joeys at Josephine’s Kangaroo Orphanage
  • Sleep like a local, underground

 Day 3: Watarrka (Kings Canyon)

  • Get driving and travel up the Stuart Highway, stopping along the way for a couple of leg stretches
  • Arrive into Watarrka National Park
  • Camp for the night at an authentic station

 Day 4: Watarrka (Kings Canyon) & Uluru

  • Explore Watarrka, and admire the massive sandstone walls, vast canyon floor and stunning gorges
  • Walk around the Canyon Rim and experience the tranquil Garden of Eden
  • Prepare yourself for your first glimpse of Uluru
  • Learn the local Aboriginal history at the Uluru Kata Tjuta Aboriginal Cultural Centre
  • Witness the awe-inspiring Uluru sunset

 

Day 5: Uluru (Ayres Rock)

  • Walk around the entire base of Uluru
  • Spot wildlife at the spectacular waterholes
  • Take in the sheer magnificence of Uluru
  • Relax back at camp, or check out some fun optional activities

 Day 6: Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)

  • Experience the magical sunrise over Kata Tjuta
  • Hike the majestic Valley of the Winds, and marvel at the ancient rock formations and spectacular views
  • Cruise into Alice Springs and settle into the Alice Springs YHA

 The red centre is a wild and remote place. We’ll try to follow the itinerary but some places are seasonal and can change at any time, so we may need to operate on the fly.  If we can’t get to certain places they will be substituted with something just as awesome.

Things You Should Know

While this is a super fun adventure, it can be full on so you need to be pretty fit.  Hikes can be over 4km, sometimes scrambling over rocks.  It can be crazy hot and freezing cold, so a good level of fitness is pretty important

 Cancellation and Amendment Fees

Cancellations:

Due to the discount offered and the structure of this package - it is non-refundable once confirmed.

Amendments:

Each amendment (not cancellation) to the original booking, after confirmation will incur a fee of $25 per person and per amendment.

Amendments are subject to availability.

General Travel Deal Terms and Conditions  

  • Your credit card will be debited upon completion of the online booking process. Your booking is guaranteed once you receive a confirmation email from a YHA Travel & Tours consultant.
  • In the unlikely event we cannot confirm your booking, we will refund the total amount to the credit card with which payment has been made within 7 days. YHA Travel & Tours and its suppliers are not liable in the event a tour or package is not available, and any refunds are restricted to the purchase price of the tour or package booked.
  • All prices quoted are in Australian Dollars.
  • YHA Travel & Tours will aim to respond to your booking within 24 hours by email

Cancellations and Amendments

If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please notify us immediately by email. You can find the email contact details on your booking confirmation. Cancellation and change fees are outlined below:

Cancellations:

  • A minimum cancellation fee of $25 per booking will apply to all cancellations. This fee excludes tour operator fees which will vary at the discretion of the supplier/s involved.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of the tour, activity, accommodation, transport item commencing will incur a 100% cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued.
  • No- shows/ failure to check- in for any tour, activity, accommodation, and/or transport item is considered a cancellation and a refund will not be issued.
  • Refunds are not available on unused portions of tour packages.

Amendments

  • Booking changes and amendments must be made 5 business days prior to the confirmed date of commencement for the tour, activity, accommodation, or transport item.
  • Booking changes and amendments to any booking made within 48 hours of the tour, activity, accommodation, and/or transport item may result in full cancellation and rebooking of each item and will therefore be charged full cancellation fees.
  • Each change/ amendment after confirmation will incur a minimum fee of $25 per person, per change/ amendment. This fee is in addition to any fees imposed by the tour operator which will vary in line with the cancellation and change terms and conditions of the tour operator involved.

 YHA Membership

This YHA Travel and Tours product is not restricted to YHA members and guests. You do not need to be a member or guest of YHA to purchase this product.

  • If there is accommodation included in this YHA Travel and Tours product and you are not already a member of YHA Australia, membership will be included as part as your first night’s stay
  • If you are an Australian resident, your membership is valid for 2 years from the month that you stay at your first YHA hostel in Australia. Your membership will renew automatically, unless you have not stayed in a YHA hostel in the past 24 months and have unsubscribed from all electronic communications.
  • If you are not an Australian resident, your membership is valid for 2 years from the month that you stay at your first YHA hostel in Australia.
