Experience large expanses of outback and white sandy beaches that stretch for miles without a soul in sight and be amazed by the spectacular beauty of Wave Rock & Fitzgerald River National Park and the white sandy beaches of Cape Le Grand National Park where you’ll see kangaroos lazing on the beach.  Hit the hiking trails of the Stirling Ranges, walk among colossal ancient forests in the Valley of the Giants and encounter ancient Aboriginal culture at Koomal Dreaming one of Australia’s best Indigenous experiences. During whale watching season you might even catch sight of the amazing humpback whales from lookouts in Albany.

Day 1: Wave Rock & Fitzgerald River National Park

  • Travel over the Darling Ranges into the historic township of York, WA’s oldest inland town.
  • Enjoy a delicious lunch at the unbelievable Wave Rock.
  • Explore internationally recognised World Biosphere, Fitzgerald River National Park, where you will swag camp tonight. This site has a toilet but no shower facilities.  
Day 2: Fitzgerald River to Cape Le Grand National Park
  • Hike up East Mt Baron.
  • Take in some of Australia’s most breathtaking scenery via the coastal route into Esperance,
  • Set up camp in one of Western Australia most spectacular National Parks, Cape Le Grand. (toilet and shower facilities at this site)
  • Enjoy a free afternoon here to set out on a hike, get your kangaroo selfie, or just kick back with your new buds on the beach. 

Day 3: Cape Le Grand National Park & Stirling Ranges

  • Start the day with a hike to the top of Frenchman Peak for very impressive views.
  • The road trip continues into the Stirling Ranges, stopping for lunch near Esperance along the way.
  • Seek out the beautiful wildflowers (Spring), or discover some secret swimming spots (Summer). 
  • Swag camp at a private campground in the stunning Stirling Ranges with shower and toilet facilities.  
Day 4 : Stirling Ranges & South West Coast
  • Hike through spectacular forests to Castle Rock.
  • Be wowed at The Gap and Natural Bridge before stopping for a dip at magical Elephant Rocks and Greens Pool in William Bay National Park
  • Discover the pristine wilderness and old growth forests of the Walpole region.
  • Check out the largest Tingle Tree in Western Australia.
  • Camp at a Quinnup Caravan Park which has shower and toilet facilities.  
Day 5: Walpole & Margaret River
  • Climb the 50 metre Diamond Tree. This native karri tree was once used as a fire lookout and is the only wooden tree top tower in the world.
  • Visit boutique wineries, craft breweries, a chocolate factory and a cheese factory, with lots of sampling along the way.
  • Camp at Big Valley Caravan Park in Margaret River which has shower and toilet facilities.  
Day 6 : Margaret River to Perth
  • Wake to the now-familiar laugh of kookaburras. 
  • Go deep down into the Ngilgi Cave for a memorable underground didgeridoo performance.
  • Taste native foods, and experience traditional fire-lighting on this unique Indigenous cultural experience.
  • Enjoy one last dip at the popular tourist town of Busselton
  • Check out the 19th-century Jetty stretching 1.8km into Geographe Bay.

Things You Should Know

You Should Read This Stuff!

This is an active adventure tour and a good level of fitness is required.

Meals: There is plenty of variety and fresh products. Please let us know of any special dietary requirements at time of booking. We also recommend travellers who may have a difficult diet to cater for bring some of their own preferred foods for the journey. 

Camping: This is a camping adventure and participation and involvement is required from passengers. Accommodation on tour is a mixture of national parks, campgrounds, bush camps (no facilities). When camping, we use individual swags. (wet weather option is 3-person dome tents shared by a maximum of 2 people per tent). Camping spots may change as sometimes weather conditions will dictate the best place to camp. If the weather is unreliable the guide may suggest to the group to stop in an accommodated premises- this is at the individuals own cost.

Changes to Itinerary:Experienced guides will tailor all of the activities on seasonal & cultural conditions throughout the year, to maximize your experience and enjoyment. Any deviation from this itinerary will be made with serious consideration and your best interest and safety is our priority.

Please ensure that you have comfortable walking shoes, water bottle, insert repellent, hat , sunscreen, swimmers and snacks in hand luggage on the bus.  It’s also a great idea to have a torch or headlight, travel pillow and rainproof jacket.  And don’t forget a sleeping bag!

Sleeping Bags: Nullarbor traveller provides swags (canvas bag with mattress). Passengers need to bring their own sleeping bag as they are not provided. If you do not require your sleeping bag at the end of the tour, it can be donated to a charity of your choice. You can also provide your own pillow if they wish.

Cancellation and Amendment Fees

Cancellations:

Due to the discount offered and the structure of this package - it is non-refundable once confirmed.

Amendments:

Each amendment (not cancellation) to the original booking, after confirmation will incur a fee of $25 per person and per amendment.

Amendments are subject to availability.

General Travel Deal Terms and Conditions  

  • Your credit card will be debited upon completion of the online booking process. Your booking is guaranteed once you receive a confirmation email from a YHA Travel & Tours consultant.
  • In the unlikely event we cannot confirm your booking, we will refund the total amount to the credit card with which payment has been made within 7 days. YHA Travel & Tours and its suppliers are not liable in the event a tour or package is not available, and any refunds are restricted to the purchase price of the tour or package booked.
  • All prices quoted are in Australian Dollars.
  • YHA Travel & Tours will aim to respond to your booking within 24 hours by email

Cancellations and Amendments

If you need to cancel or amend your booking, please notify us immediately by email. You can find the email contact details on your booking confirmation. Cancellation and change fees are outlined below:

Cancellations:

  • A minimum cancellation fee of $25 per booking will apply to all cancellations. This fee excludes tour operator fees which will vary at the discretion of the supplier/s involved.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours of the tour, activity, accommodation, transport item commencing will incur a 100% cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued.
  • No- shows/ failure to check- in for any tour, activity, accommodation, and/or transport item is considered a cancellation and a refund will not be issued.
  • Refunds are not available on unused portions of tour packages.

Amendments

  • Booking changes and amendments must be made 5 business days prior to the confirmed date of commencement for the tour, activity, accommodation, or transport item.
  • Booking changes and amendments to any booking made within 48 hours of the tour, activity, accommodation, and/or transport item may result in full cancellation and rebooking of each item and will therefore be charged full cancellation fees.
  • Each change/ amendment after confirmation will incur a minimum fee of $25 per person, per change/ amendment. This fee is in addition to any fees imposed by the tour operator which will vary in line with the cancellation and change terms and conditions of the tour operator involved.

 YHA Membership

This YHA Travel and Tours product is not restricted to YHA members and guests. You do not need to be a member or guest of YHA to purchase this product.

  • If there is accommodation included in this YHA Travel and Tours product and you are not already a member of YHA Australia, membership will be included as part as your first night’s stay
  • If you are an Australian resident, your membership is valid for 2 years from the month that you stay at your first YHA hostel in Australia. Your membership will renew automatically, unless you have not stayed in a YHA hostel in the past 24 months and have unsubscribed from all electronic communications.
  • If you are not an Australian resident, your membership is valid for 2 years from the month that you stay at your first YHA hostel in Australia.
