    • You have to see the sunrise over the three sisters! Make a daytrip to wentworth falls. It's worth it!
      Martin H
    • Charles Darwin walk down to Wentworth Waterfall, forget the expensive bus, shank's pony (your legs) get a much better wilderness bush walk for free there and the stairs to the bottom are breathtaking!
      Alastair S
    • There are busses to Blackheat for the Grand Canyon trail witch is one of the best trail done in Australia also busses for Wentworth to get to the falls and National Park, Charles Darwin Walk and the amazing National Pass.
      Ginette M
    • Go to the Sculpture hiking trail at Scenic world! Many other hiking trails... Additionally a place where a vivid artist scene exists (the YHA a common room with a stage, regional journal ("Blume")
      Marita V
    • From Katoomba Railway Station YHA just say 15 minutes a quick downhill walk.
      Ronald W
    • Wentworth falls is definitely worth a visit! And try to catch sunrise near the 3 sisters
      Aashi P
    • Canyoning is a great activity.
      Caroline H
    • Great lookout terrace above the Katoomba Civic Centre, nice craft shop there. Have a hot chocolate at the Paragon Cafe and experience a wonderful Art Deco era eatery. The Chocolate Factory is novel but remember that hand made items will be expensive.
      Priscilla P
    • Chork Dee Thai, Leura, all hikes.
      Leanna M
    • We loved a tiny French restaurant called the Rooster. Great place to have a couple of wines or a dinner to treat yourself.

    • The National Pass walk from Wentworth Falls is very good
      Sarah H
    • Aldi is cheaper than the other supermarkets, Coles and Woolworths, providing value for money, and is just around the corner form the Katoomba YHA. If you want to get a local bus, there are buses leaving from outside the Carrington Hotel just across the road from the Katoomba Railway Station, and you can find the timetable in the shelter. Having your Opal Card will facilitate easy and prompt service on the local buses. I combine my bus travel with taxi travel too, to go to Wentworth Falls shops and then beyond. Enjoy your stay!
      Jennifer H
    • Victory Antique Theatre in Blackheath is a great place to explore for antiques and vintage items.
      Kristy D
    • Go to the Echo Point Lookout early or late in the day to avoid mass crowds of bus tourists. If you walk to Spooner's Lookout, which is only about 5 minutes from the main lookout point, you will have a much more private place to view the beautiful mountains. Definitely do the Prince Henry Cliff Walk and, if you have time, the trail to the Ruined Castle is great too. Just be careful and watch for leeches on that trail in wet weather. Enjoy! This is an amazing and majestic place!

    • It's a bit of a walk from the railway station to the hostel, but it's downhill. Unfortunately it's uphill all the way on the return journey. Can't be helped. Otherwise, the hostel is brilliantly located and there are plenty of attractions to visit by foot, car, or bus. Great place! Love it!
