Day 1 – Parachilna Gorge
This morning we depart Adelaide and begin our adventure travelling to the magnificent Flinders Ranges. On the way we pass through the beautiful wine region of Clare Valley. We make a quick stopover for lunch at the Hawker railway station, one of the transit destinations for the renowned Ghan Train. Before entering the Flinders Ranges, keep your eyes out for Kangaroos, emus, yellow footed rock wallabies and if we’re lucky, you might see an Wedge Tailed Eagle flying alongside the bus. We arrive at our camp, in the heart of the Parachilna Gorge where we’ll settle in for our first night.
Day 2 – Mount Ohlssen Bagge and Blinman Mine and Pools Hike
After breakfast, we hike to Mount Ohlssen Bagge which is approximately 941 metres above sea level and gives us spectacular views over Wilpena Pound. Have your cameras ready to snap some of Australia’s diverse wildlife before they scoot away! After lunch, we will be amazed at the spectacular scenery of the Blinman Mine and pools hike. We then make our way to Angorichina which is our camp for the night. Meet the extremely friendly locals and gather around the campfire with your fellow travellers as your tour guide takes you on a journey of Aboriginal dreamtime story telling.
Day 3 – Parachilna Gorge, Quorn and Devil’s Peak Walk
We kick off the day with a spectacular bike ride in the Parachilna gorge. Enjoy the moment of being surrounded by tall red cliffs and coloured creek beds while you pedal down the tracks. We move onto Quorn where we stop for lunch. This is a beautiful town with popular hotspots such as the Pichi Richi Railway. We will have free time to explore the town and talk to the locals. We then make our way to the Outback’s version of “Sydney Eye tower” the Devil’s Peak walk. Enjoy the stunning views of Port Augusta, Quorn and Lake Torrens. This is a great opportunity to take photographs of the beautiful flora and fauna only found in the land down under. We hit our base camp for the night and snuggle in the comfortable swags being completely surrounded by bushland.
Day 4 – Mount Remarkable and Port Germein
On the dawn of the final day, we take the Sugar Gum trail hike at Mount Remarkable. At the peak you’ll have a panoramic view of gorgeous red quartzite cliffs. Shrug the dirt off your shoulders as we drive down the coast to Port Germein. Here we have the chance to walk the longest jetty in South Australia! Get a quick sun-tan, leave your footprints in the sand or sit in the shade as you watch the waves break on the shore. The group will gather for a fun picnic style lunch on the beach before heading back to the city of Adelaide.
While it is our intention to follow the itinerary as described, on occasion it may be necessary and desirable to make changes due to weather conditions and other factors.
