Take an incredible overland journey from Melbourne to Darwin on this EPIC 14 day road trip. Visit the Great Ocean Road, Grampians, Adelaide, Barossa Valley, Kings Canyon, Uluru, Kata Tjuta & Katherine Gorge.
Spend 2 nights at Melbourne Metro YHA
Day 1 (Friday) - Admire the spectacular scenery as you wind your way along the Great Ocean Road coast. After a lunch stop in a charming seaside town, you will get a chance to stretch your legs on a walk through an ancient rainforest. Arrive at the 12 Apostles at sunset and be awestruck by the mighty limestone stacks. (Lunch, Dinner)
Day 2 (Saturday) - After an early breakfast you will make your way back to the 12 Apostles to see them in the morning light, before the crowds arrive. You will make your way to the Grampians National Park in the afternoon to enjoy some hiking before visiting the Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 3 (Sunday) - Further explore the Grampians National Park; visit MacKenzie Falls and the Balconies Lookout. Travel onto Adelaide through the hills and arrive at approximately 7pm. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Check into Adelaide Central YHA for 2 nights.
Day 4 (Monday)- Explore the Barossa Valley and enjoy tasting some of the best food and wine in Australia. This tour blends historical wineries, wonderful regional food and breathtaking scenery. Enjoy a second night at Adelaide YHA. (Lunch)
Day 5 (Tuesday) - Start your journey up the centre of the country. Enter the Southern Flinders Ranges and enjoy a hike up Dutchman’s Stern for stunning views of the Spencer Gulf and surrounding plains. Marvel at the beauty of the Milky Way as you sleep under the starts in a swag. (Lunch, Dinner)
Day 6 (Wednesday) - The highlight for some is visiting Josephine’s Kangaroo Orphanage, where you can meet the rescued kangaroos and baby joeys! Visit the underground mining town of Coober Pedy; a landscape similar to Mars and home to 80% of the world’s opal. Take a tour of an opal mine and check out some of the town’s unique underground attractions. Tonight you sleep like the locals– underground. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 7 (Thursday) - Travel north onto Uluru. On arrival you will set up camp then check out your first Uluru sunset. Nothing really prepares you for the beauty of the glowing rock! (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 8 (Friday) - Enjoy a walk around the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and learn about the Aboriginal people at the Cultural Centre. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 9 (Saturday) - At Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), hike the majestic Valley of the Winds with its incredible ancient rock formations.(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 10 (Sunday) - Experience the fantastic views of Kings Canyon on this 3 hour hike. Feel dwarfed by the huge sandstone walls and the immense canyon floor. Continue onto Alice Springs and arrive at approximately 6:30pm.(Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 11 (Monday) - Free day in Alice Springs
Day 12 (Tuesday) – It's time to head into the Tropics! 80% of the Northern Territory lays north of the Tropic of Capricorn. Next on the tour is the Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu) which are a collection of gigantic granite boulders magically balanced on top of one another. The day ends at historic Banka Banka Cattle Station where you will camp in tents and swags for the night. (Lunch, Dinner)
Day 13 (Wednesday) – Visit the iconic Daly Waters Pub, an important watering hole for explorers and drovers in days gone by. Later in the day you can take a soak in the Mataranka Thermal Pools, a lush oasis fringed by paperbark trees and near where you camp overnight. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 14 (Thursday) – An early start with a short drive to the Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park. You may like to take a boat cruise or paddle a canoe (not available all year due to seasonal conditions) through the peaceful water (both optional and additional cost). In the afternoon, relax and watch the changing landscape as you travel onto Darwin and arrive in the early evening. (Breakfast, Lunch)

What you need to bring: Sleeping bag, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, warm and cool clothing, flashlight, toiletries, rain jacket, camera, swimwear, towel, insect repellent, spending money and a sense of adventure!

Cancellations and Amendments
If you need to cancel or amend your booking after we have confirmed, please notify us immediately by email or fax. On the booking confirmation print-out, you can find the email contact details. If you cancel or amend your booking after we have confirmed or fail to arrive on the nominated day, we will charge you the fees outlined in the specific product conditions.
We strongly advise you purchase adequate travel insurance to safeguard against any losses.
