    FREE things to do in Fremantle

    1. Fremantle Markets houses a family of stallholders from encouraging young local talent such as designers and artists, launching the careers of budding musicians including John Butler to creating a hub of events for visitors.
    2. Fremantle Prison is one of Western Australia's premier cultural heritage sites and tourist attractions- and you're going to be staying there! Have a look around and check out the scary tours.
    3. Discover the recently completed restoration of Fremantle Town Hall. This exuberantly composed two storey stuccoed limestone and brick building was designed in the Victorian Free Classical style and features a 32 metre high clock tower and a picturesque roofscape of turrets and mansard roofs.
    4. The Fremantle Railway Station is a memorable historical landmark for visitors to the renowned port city of Fremantle. Catch the train from Perth, or just stop in on your walking tour of Fremantle. Wander through the early 20th century building, which closely resembles England’s Cambridge railway station.

    • Please stock up on items at the local Coles/Woolwoorths/IGA. Eating out in Perth is rather expensive, and the food isn't very good at times at the restaurants. Please remember some supermarkets close early on weekends. Buses/Trains finish early in Perth, so make sure you have alternative travel after hrs.
    • Free public buses circle the town. Rottnest ferry's departure wharf an easy walk and it is much cheaper to go on a Tuesday.

    • You can get around Fremantle with the free red and blue "cat" buses. Other frequent public transport options are available with an excellent frequent train service to Perth.

    • Ma ny places to eat , goods Fresh products in thé market, free buses to the beach, for 3 or 4 days. Shuttle recommended to go to airport.

    • Walking distance to everything in Freo. Be sure to visit the Freo markets, walk down to the Freo Arts Centre for a great cafe, shop, art gallery or concert experience. Nearby is Wray Avenue - brilliant for brekky/coffee/cake/fresh fruit and veg. And the other direction just walk straight into Freo for the main cafe strip.
