About YHA Fremantle Prison

Experience a historical and unique stay at the YHA Fremantle Prison. Built in the 1850's it's the only accommodation in Western Australia with UNESCO World Heritage Status. If you’re feeling adventurous, sleep in the actual prison cells! The hostel has an additional purpose-built building with ensuited private rooms for luxurious travellers.

About your stay: Ticketed parking bays are available outside the property, however they are not managed or operated by YHA Fremantle Prison.

  • YHA Fremantle Prison has all the added comfort of a modern traveller's hostel - a mix of private and co-living rooms and modern facilities - all within a charming historic building.
  • Learn about the rich history displayed throughout the hostel during your stay. World Heritage-listed Fremantle Prison was built in the 1850s with the first convicts occupying it in 1855, all the way up until 1991. The women’s division of the prison is now the YHA Fremantle Prison YHA.
