    From East Perth Terminal Station, take the city train to the city centre and then switch to the Fremantle train line.

    Take the free Red Cat Bus to Kings Square stop and continue up High St to the traffic lights and turn right onto Parry St. Continue walking for 350m on Parry St, then at the end of the open car park on the left, walk up the ramp to the hostel.

    Take #40 or #37 bus or airport shuttle (CONNECT) to Perth city centre, then take city train to Fremantle.

    If you’re brave, sleep in the actual prison cells! This Fremantle Prison backpackers hostel has an additional purpose-built building with ensuited private rooms for luxurious travellers. Perfectly-preserved Victorian-style guards’ cottages are also available.

    Learn about the rich history displayed throughout the hostel during your stay. World Heritage-listed Fremantle Prison was built in the 1850s with the first convicts occupying it in 1855, all the way up until 1991. The women’s division of the prison is now the Fremantle Prison YHA.

    Three self contained, lovingly restored historic cottages, located on top of the hill with historic Fremantle City at your doorstep. Accommodating up to 6 people in each of the three cottages with two bedrooms (double and bunk rooms), a fully equipped kitchen/dining/lounge room, outdoor patio in the back yard and relaxing veranda from which you can watch the world go by at the front of the cottage – perfect for family, groups and friends wanting to stay somewhere special when visiting the historic maritime city of Fremantle.  You can find them under "Cottages" when you press "Book Now"

    • Yes, you too can get out of prison! It is a great place to stay. A quiet location with modern facilities within a Heritage Building. There is plenty of room to relax or chill out. The private rooms are fantastic with their ensuite bathroom. Public transport is not far away.
