48 Hours In... Glebe Edition

Haaaaave you met Glebe? A bohemian mecca boasting leafy streets, eclectic cafes, art, bookshops and the weekly markets - this is the perfect spot to base yourself whilst in Sydney.

Enjoy the village atmosphere while using Glebe Point YHA as a base to explore Sydney. It’s the simple things that make the location and we’ve found a tone of options for you to partake in whilst enjoying your 48hrs in Glebe.

Embrace Glebe Culture

Glebe Point Street Art

 Glebe Street Art

  • Glebe Markets: someone’s trash is another person’s treasure and this concept comes alive at one of Sydney’s most beloved markets. Saturdays in Glebe are for finding yourself a bargain at the Glebe Markets. Well known for its thrifty stalls and vintage merchandise, this is the perfect place to pick up handcrafted jewellery, clothes and organic produce.

  • Glebe Street Art: Hosier Lane WATCH OUT! Stroll through Mitchell Street to take a peek at some of Glebe’s finest street art. It’s fascinating how some cities frown upon certain behaviours, whilst others embrace it as part of their culture… GOOD ON YA SYDNEY!

  • Sze Yup Traditional Chinese Temple: quite literally two minutes walk from the hostel, you can’t visit Glebe and not suss out the heritage listed Chinese Temple! Walk through the breathtaking haven that is Sze Yup, take a bunch of Insta pics (definitely allowed) and perhaps buy a $5 incense after being inspired by the smells that waft mystically through the three temple rooms?!

That’s so ‘Touristy’ Activities

Glebe Foreshore

 Glebe Foreshore

  • Exhibitions Galore: enjoy an artsy day trip and take advantage of the free exhibits at the Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

  • Take a day trip walk: perhaps the Bondi to Coogee walk or the Split to Manly walk? Whether you’re after a 6km or 11km hike, both of these are great day trips, offering unbeatable views, photo potential and ideal for anyone wanting to get their fitspo ON!

  • Glebe Foreshore: away from the craziness of Glebe Point Road, take a stroll around the picturesque Glebe foreshore. The beautiful hub is surrounded by parklands, sporting fields, and picnic and barbeque areas, ideal for a chill kinda day!
