From 17 – 28 April hundreds of local and international artists will flock to the southern end of Gold Coast transforming the coastline into a lively space showcasing a range of creative works and performances. You can expect everything from live music, street parties and pop up art installations all spread across the Goldie for 11 days straight.
There are loads of events during Bleach* Festival so the question what’s worth seeing? Well, we've made it easy for you and picked our faves. Oh, and we forgot to mention...they’re all FREE!
This performance installation premiered at Splendour in the Grass 2018 and will literally make you laugh out loud. We’ll set the scene for you. A completely white living room sits in mid-air, seven metres above the ground. Two cleaners in white uniforms and with a kit of cleaning apparatus, inspect the room. There is nothing more important to them than maintaining the white room’s perfect whiteness.
On the ground below sits a giant slingshot and beside it is a large collection of mud filled balloons ready to make a big mess. Watch on as The Cleaners frantically attempt to rectify the situation! Event details can be found here.
Feast on mouth watering delights from the best local food trucks and restaurants while you soak up the chilled coastal sound track of jazz, blues and funk! Tap your toes to stompin’ street-style blues from The James St Preachers as twilight twinkles. Then, as night really kicks in, party to soul and R’n’B from Sarah Frank and Hanlon Brothers. It’s set to be an epic night so make sure you get in early to secure your spot. More info can be found here.
Get back to nature with this interactive workshop! Wild City is a performance art project that invites you to engage creatively with wild nature, within our daily urban lives exploring how the wilderness is well and truly alive in the busyness of city life. There are a number of outdoor workshops at different sites and times across the city so make sure you book you spot! Find out more.
To finish up the 2019 event make sure you check out Bleach* at Burleigh, a Sunday afternoon chillout session featuring some of Australia’s leading musicians. See performances from likes of Ella Fence, Pink Matter, Luther Cora and ARIA Award Winner Montaigne! And yes, it’s FREE! More info here.
