Help us Support our Firies
YHA is proudly supporting Australia’s volunteer rural fire services in the incredible job they do to protect lives and property (including cute koalas!) Until the end of February 2020, YHA will be forwarding all new contributions made to the Sustainable Hostels Fund to rural fire service volunteer organisations.
Byron Bay YHA raised funds to adopt Paul the Koala, supporting his care jouney in the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital
YHA Australia is committed to supporting the communities on which we live and work, which is why this summer (20 December 2019-29 February 2020) all funds raised through the YHA Sustainable Hostels Fund will be forwarded to rural fire service volunteer organisations.
Rural fire services across Australia are made up of ordinary Aussies volunteering their time to keep us all safe. This summer, there’s no better way to thank our firies for the incredible work they do than by supporting their efforts and assisting communities affected in long-term recovery projects.
Port Lincoln YHA hosting the South Australian Country Fire Service
YHA properties across the network are also organising fundraising activties to support local charities across Australia. From adopting adorable koalas to fundraising dinners, trivia nights and donation points at reception, our hostels are doing incredible work raising funds for rural fire services, WIRES and the Australian Red Cross.
Nearly one million Australians work in the tourism industry, and the best way to support affected communities is with your business. We encourage you to keep your bookings at our hostels open across the country, run by locals and helping support the region.
Cape Byron YHA has raised over $1000 for the Australian Red Cross appeal so far
You can donate directly to the Red Cross appeal to assist volunteers and survivors throughout the nation. Across this big land we’re proud to support our volunteer firefighters and communities. With your help, we can create a more sustainable future.
