Tiger Airways has just announced that they'll commence flights between Melbourne and Canberra starting 9 December 2016.

Flights are on sale now. The route will have daily return flights starting at $69 one way, making it perfect for backpackers and travellers on a budget looking to visit our nation's capital.

Once you've booked your flight to Canberra, book your bed at Canberra City YHA. It's centrally located and is the perfect base to explore the best attractions that Canberra has to offer - many of which are free!

Canberra is a great place for history and politics buffs, outdoor enthusiasts and for those who love to wine and dine alike. Some of the top attractions include Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, Mount Ainslie, Lake Burley Griffin and Questacon (for the science lovers) amongst others.

If you're in Canberra and are planning on a trip to Melbourne, you have two great YHAs to stay at - Melbourne Central YHA located in the CBD and Melbourne Metro YHA in hip, funky North Melbourne.

Make sure you tick off some of Melbourne's best sights from your bucket list. Our favourites are Eureka Skydeck, Queen Victoria Market, Federation Square, Melbourne Zoo and a cricket or footy game at the MCG.

Prepare and book ahead. As demand increases closer to your date of travel, prices will go up, so make sure you get in early to get a $69 flight - win!
