2018 Tour Down Under

The world’s biggest cycling event outside Europe turns 20 in 2018, and Adelaide Central YHA is the best value accommodation right in the heart of the action.

A record one million spectators are expected to line the streets of South Australia to watch the 20th edition of the Tour Down Under, witnessing some of the world’s finest cyclists compete for the Ochre leader’s jersey.

Stage 1 pays homage to the inaugural race in 1999 by starting in Port Adelaide, before the peloton pedals a challenging course that passes through 81 towns around Adelaide.

On top of the world-class cycling, there are also participation rides, kids courses, family-friendly events, street parties and an amazing atmosphere created by the tens of thousands of visitors who pour into the city for the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest cycling event.

The nine-day festival of cycling takes place between Saturday 13 January and Sunday 21 January, and Adelaide Central YHA has a variety of multi-share, double/twin and family rooms starting at just $34 a night in the middle of the city.
