6 Reasons You Should Attend the Argyle Diamond Ord Valley Muster

Make 2019 the year you visit Kununurra and attend the Argyle Diamond Ord Valley Muster - we'll tell you why.

It’s located in the East Kimberley region

If you’ve been to the East Kimberley region, we salute you. If you're like other Aussies (and us too), not too many of you have ever visited the area. Use the Ord Valley Muster as the reason to travel to Kununurra in the East Kimberley, a stunning and unique area of northern Western Australia. You’ll get gorgeous sights like this that you can’t get that anywhere else, plus your Insta will be rolling in the likes and all your mates will be jealous.

Enjoy a celebration of the unique art and culture of the region

Who doesn’t love a little bit of art and a little bit of culture? During the Muster, immerse yourself in the culture of and learn more about the Indigenous population, the land and life of the people living in the East Kimberley. You’ll become the star of your next dinner party when you show off your new found knowldege of Kununurra and the Kimberley region.

It’s 10 days of fun and adventure

Prepare yourself for 30+ spectacular events over 10 days from the 17th – 26th of May 2019. There's guided walks, a diamond hunt, a corroboree under the stars, a FEASTival, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, their very own take on Australian Idol - Muster Idol - and much more. You’re going to be exhausted at the end of the 10 days., so book in a couple of extra annual leave days - or call in sick - and stay a little longer in paradise to relax and rejuvenate. Events are a mix of free and ticketed, check out the program here

There's something for sport fans too

Not keen on the cultural aspect of the festival? Don't worry sports fans, there's something for you too. Cheer on the riders taking part in 660km Gibb Challenge Bike Team Relay or join other speedway fantastics at the Speedyway Muster Spectacular. Plus, there's the don't-miss Muster Rodeo, a nail biting, dust raising affair where cowboys try to stay on the back of a bucking bull for at least 8 seconds.

The food. Oh my, the food

There aren’t too many food events at the Muster, but the few they have are absolutely out of this world. If you’re ruled by your stomach and want a truly unique dining experience, channel your inner Tom Haverford and treat yo' self to at least one dining event (they're a little exxy). The cream of the crop is the most extravagant affair going around, the Kimberley Fine Diamonds Dinner. With the river boat transfer, non-stop champagne, full sit down multi-course dinner and much more, you'll feel like the ultimate VIP.

You’ll fall in love with the festival, the people and the community

City slickers, when you visit this small, tight knit community of 5300 people you’ll be welcomed with open arms and warm country hospitality. The people of Kununurra just want you to love their town and their culture just as much as they do and by the end of the Muster, you definitely will. Don’t be surprised if you’re booking your flight tickets for next year as soon as the Muster ends!

Keen? We thought so. So once you've got your flights and your tickets to the events, book your accommodation at Kununurra YHA - also known as Kimberley Croc YHA - it's located in the heart of Kununurra and is the perfect place to base yourself for the Argyle Diamond Ord Valley Muster.
