As the weather warms, the days get longer and the flowers blossom, Adelaide's busy festival calendar is set to Spring into an action packed Spring season. Here's our top 8 picks to help you navigate the best of them.

Barossa gourmet weekend

1-3 September 

Foodies will rejoice with 44 events showcasing authentic regional food from local Barossa Valley producers accompanied by world-class wines.

Hot Tip - Treat yourself to a night with some of Barossa's freshest young boundary pushing, revolutionary wine producers with music too good not to dance to at The Young and The Restless event.


The Royal Adelaide Show

1 - 10 September 2017

10 days and nights of old fashioned fun with rides, showbags, pig races and wood chopping competitions among the action.

Hot Tip - no trip to 'The Show' is complete without a Dagwood Dog (deep fried sausage on a stick) and a souvenir Bertie Beetle show bag.


City Bay Fun Run

17 September

Adelaide's annual City Bay Fun Run sees the whole city come out to celebrate Spring by running 12kms from the city to Glenelg beach in normal running clothes - or very silly costumes.

Hot Tip - not into running? Walking is just as much fun. And there's a big party at the finish line.


Oz Asia Festival

21 September - 8 October

Things are really starting to heat up now, just in time of the ground-breaking Oz Asia Festival.  Spoil yourself with the finest theatre, dance, music, film, talks and visual art that Asia has to offer.

Adelaide Film Festival

5 - 15 October

This year's Adelaide Film Festival is planning to give you much to remember with the cheeky theme being Vive Le Punk - celebrating punk's creative and disruptive spirit through film.

Hot Tip - it's so hard to pick just one film, so we've picked three:  

  1. Sweet Country - an Aboriginal period Western by genius producer Warwick Thornton
  2. F-ing Adelaide - local Adelaide film producer Sophie Hyde's film about leaving home - and come back
  3. Exploding White Mic - the legendary Adelaide band will play for the first time since 1999 to ensure the punk spirit of the festival is alive and LOUD


World Solar Challenge

8-15 October

Every two years, for the past 30 years, the World Solar Challenge has welcomed the greatest minds from around the world to Australia to challenge the norms and travel 3,000km through the outback from Darwin to Adelaide, in a vehicle powered only by the power of the sun.

Hot Tip - the winning team's should arrive in Adelaide on Thursday 12 October in the morning, so head to Victoria Square and cheer them on, and then get to check out these amazing vehicles.

Tarnanthi - indigenous art spectacular

13 - 22 October


The 2017 Tarnanthi Festival in Adelaide is set to be the largest celebration of contemporary art from Australia's oldest living culture.
Not to be missed!
Hot Tip - head to historic Port Adelaide on Saturday 21 October for a huge day of traditional ceremonies, music, dance, art and storytelling at the Tarnanthi at the Port event.

Australian 3 day event

16 - 19 November

Giddyup to Adelaide's beautiful Eastern Parklands to watch the world's best riders and horses compete in the incredibly elegant equine sport of dressage.

Hot Tip - for something a little different, head down to the Twilight Jumping With The Stars event.


Feast Festival

11 - 26 November

Adelaide's annual queer arts and cultural festival is celebrating 21 years of  drag, dancing, drama and ridiculously good fun.
