We may lose out on Northern Hemispheric Chrissie traditions, but we’re home to the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest and most breathtaking display of over 2 million purdy lights – so there.
*Sings* Turn up the lights in here baby, extra bright I want ya’ll to see this.
Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Light extra-vaganza is back for its tenth year (HB, HV!) and, as if Humpty Dumpty and the twinkling Tardis weren’t sensory overload enough, they’ve beefed out their line up with a Ferris wheel, Carousel and Swing Chair.
A true adult playground – the installations play with scope and scale (and a little bit of magic) to send even the grinchiest humans on an illuminated trip back to childhood, and Hunter Valley Gardens never disappoint. It is wine country, after all. Adult evening tickets start from $30, and the golden unlimited ride wristband sets you back $15. But, FLOATING CIRCULAR CHAIR RIDES!
We all know driving with Christmas lights in our eyes is unsafe and unwise. Best to shack up at the incandescent Hunter Valley YHA, book yourself into a wine tour and wonder why you don’t go on staycations way more often. Like, every weekend.
