Are you a lover of books, writing and poetry? Do you love nothing better than discussing the issues of the day? Do you want to learn, engage and grow? Then the Melbourne Writers Festival is for you!
Writers, philosophers, poets and politicos from around the country and across the globe will descend into Melbourne in August for this festival. Listen to your favourite author speak about their books, hear about the behind the scenes of the political world, be in the studio audience for the First Tuesday Book Club's MWF episode or attend a panel discussion on social, political or economic issues facing Australians and citizens of the world. MFW's program comes out on the 17th of July and tickets go on sale on the 20th of July, so keep an eye on MWF's website.
There's something for everyone here, even students. The Melbourne Writers Festival runs a schools program that features alongside its regular program which makes it the perfect school excursion. There's a variety of talks and workshops available for students from primary level all the way up to VCE. The schools program is available now, but will book out fast, so get on it!
The festival runs from 24 August - 2 September, with the schools program running from 27 - 30 August.
Want to save some cash while in town for the Melbourne Writers Festival? Book a bed at Melbourne Central YHA or Melbourne Metro YHA today! If you're coming with your students as part of a school camp, stay at Melbourne Metro YHA. They've been hosting schools for decades and take groups of up to 200, so whatever your needs are, the staff there will be able to take care of you.
