Sydney Comedy Festival 2017
Why did the chicken cross the road? How do you make time fly? What’s brown and sticky? The punchlines to these jokes – and hopefully a few funnier ones – will be revealed at Sydney’s biggest annual comedy event, returning for its 13th year this April.
For four laughter-filled weeks between 24 April and 21
May, hundreds of hilarious comics from across Australia and around the world
converge on Sydney for a gala of giggles, a carnival of cackling, a hoedown of
humour, a celebration of side-splitters, and an orgy of ‘oh my God, I can’t
believe they just said that!’
From big names performing at huge events like the Sydney
Comedy Festival Gala at the Sydney Opera House on 24 April and the Cracker
Night across the city on April 25 and 26 to the hand-picked up-and-comers being
supported by the FRESH program for young Aussie talent, there’s a show for
every comedic taste, whether you’re a fan of satire, sketch, improvisation,
theatre, magic, music, and even kids comedy for the under-12s.
Hundreds of comedians will perform for crowds well in
excess of 100,000 across 19 venues – Dave Hughes, Phill Jupitus, Rove McManus,
Stephen K Amos, Tom Ballard, Cal Wilson, the Doug Anthony All Stars *deep
breath* Arj Barker, Fiona O’Loughlin, Frank Woodley, Jason Byrne, Lawrence
Mooney, Joel Creasey, Becky Lucas, Jimeon, Lehmo and dozens more of your
favourite comics are sure to have you rolling around in the aisles. Visit the official website for the full program and ticket info.
