The largest - and in our opinion, the best - food and wine festival in the country is back for its biggest year ever. The Taste of Tasmania is in town from Friday 28th December until Thursday 3rd of January which equals 7 days of deliciousness. 7 days of stuffing yourself silly. 7 days of foodie heaven!

Celebrating 30 mega years in 2018, there’ll be more stalls than ever – over 100 – meaning more amazing food and drink for you to try and buy. They’re throwing in a more extra ticketed events this year as part of their dirty 30 celebrations, which means more things for you to see, do and experience.

Plus for the first time ever at the Taste of Tasmania, the Culinary Kitchen Program which features over 20 chefs, cooks and food influencers presenting workshops, demonstrations, exclusive cooking classes and fine dining events. All of this means more fabulous food goodness for you!

On a budget? No worries. It’s completely free to get into the festival area for allllll the tasty samples and live music, plus there will be a bunch of free events for wallet watchers. So whether you’ve got champagne tastebuds on a beer budget or champagne tastes on a champagne budget, you’ll be able to eat and drink your fill at this culinary delight of a festival.

If you do decide to splurge a little on a ticketed event and treat yo’ self, we recommend you get tickets to their New Years Eve party on the waterfront. It’s an out of this world festival with live music, amazing food and you’ll be in the best spot in the city to see the fireworks at midnight.

Tickets to some events are already on sale (with more to be released later), and Hobart Central YHA – your ultimate Taste of Tasmania accommodation – has already started to fill up, so get in now. It’s a very short and picturesque 9 minute walk from Hobart Central YHA to the festival grounds at Princes Wharf No. 1 Shed, so why would you stay anywhere else?!
